This tournament is helping to fund the creation of the Columbus City School lacrosse program.
The T-Shirt concession for the tournament has been given to CCS Lacrosse as a fundraiser to help build the program and voluntary donations will be accepted at the door.
The Columbus City Schools Lacrosse Club is an effort to introduce the sport of lacrosse into the Columbus City Schools. Although formed just this past fall, they fielded a team for the indoor season that competed with the lacrosse teams of other local high schools, and they have a schedule for the spring outdoor season. The players are primarily from Brookhaven and Whetstone high schools although any Columbus City Schools student is welcome to join.
Two Columbus Old Dogs (Mike Kinney and JB Jones) are the driving force behind the Columbus City Schools Lacrosse Club. They have solicited donations of time, money, and equipment to get the program started. Building the program from scratch, they started this past fall with Sunday "introduction to lacrosse basics" sessions and had ~25 boys attending, most of whom then played the indoor season.
